fasting

Thu May 4, 2006, 4:32 PM
day four of fasting. its going much better than expected. i feel heightened sensitivity of the senses, and feel much more in tune with my body again. a slightly deeper clarity of mind. perhaps its that my body isnt having to process all the fucked up shit i eat/drink on a daily basis.

i didnt really have a plan on how long to go into this. last time i fasted was for 3 days. yesterday i decided 5 was good, but if i feel good after tomorrow evening i may go for 7 or more. we shall see.

john's last day was yesterday and even tho i have been fasting, i was obligated to take him out for drinks, cutting out early from work. we had a couple of shots and a pitcher of good beer. needless to say i was rather intoxicated having eaten nothing. we played kickball after that and it was hella fun. i was quite tired from the drinking and running around, so i fell asleep soon after. i must say, tho i havent felt this good in a while. perhaps 7 or more is the way to go.

anyone else have experience with fasting?

I've never tried fasting, hmm.

ive gone up to 14, trust me 10 + is some crazy shit not for the in-experienced in sleep deprevation....
just my 2 cents

hm. no not really. but there was a time when all we ate was some dried fish and instant noodles. it felt like fasting at that time. but it would be interesting to try. but i think it would be bad. especially since im working most of the time. need the mental and physical energy. i think the worst thing ive had to go through was carrying rocks from a river quarry to a top of a hill for a fish pond - and i had to trek for 8 hours before doing just that. extreme body shock. but then.. hmm.. fasting... its surprising thinking it. fresh :)

fasting from eating, not sleeping. not sleeping for extended periods of time is very very bad for your brain

i have suprisingly more mental and physical energy during fasting than normal. its very odd, but very invigorating. ive been doing all my normal tasks at work, including moderate physical labor, moving boxes around and the like. your body has all the energy it needs during fasting on it already, its just making the switch to running off of it rather than off of injested food.

Well, some people fret for their figure, and where it fits in. If you are doing this, then it is very surprizing to me that you gain any energy at all. Usually these people are now freting for their health, because they have not eaten a thing. A sort of 'torture' for one's self. This sickens me. It takes away from the beauty that fasting is suppoused to have.

Now, I cannot fast for any religious or spiritual purpose, because I am hypoglycemic, sinor! No, I do not know how to spell that, it has something with my german heritage forbiding me to spell.

I would like to. Very much so, but it is very hard to do. I have tried with water, but all attempts have failed. I know where my breaking point is, and in no point during fasting would I want to hurt myself. I would like to, but the experience is something that cannot cross my path. I have experimented with other techniques to increase my spirituality, but, with fasting, the mindstate must be quite..diffrent.

Care to share what it is like?

yes i know you were refering to fasting form eating, i was merely sharing my experiences with fasting which in my case includes insomnia....
i dunno, when i dont eat i dont sleep either....
i noticed that personally after 48-72 hrs, i reach a point where i lose the physical feeling of hunger, but every day after that i seem to be on a constatntly decreaseing energy level...
any one else react to fasting like this?.......

Actually, I've considered it, but due to my slim stature and being slightly underweight, I should probably just eat healthy for a while and then consider fasting.
